procastination, one of life's biggest stallers and one of life's biggest time wasters.

What is Procastination?

procastination this is a habit that affects nearly every human being at some point in their lives, it is something that is virtually impossible to escape, not because it is in the air we breathe , or it is the food we eat, no it is because it is part of our mental thought process.

Procastination is a form of trap door or escape route that automatically opens up in our mind when it's time to do something that we dont particularly want to do. You  could say it is our bad side talking to us, telling us to, take it easy, do it another day, what's the rush, after all you have all the time in the world.

Well now we know what procastination is, the question is how do we beat it. There are several programs out there on the market that help in conquering procastination, programs that go into considerable depth abouth this dilema of the human thought process. But on this blog i shall be showing you some simple techniques to start with, as well as reviewing some programs related to this topic.

Ok let's get started

Technique 1:

This is a very good technique to overcome procastination in the short term. It is basically the stick and the carrot method. where you tell your self that if the job at hand is done in the time it should be done be it 1 hour or 1 day, then you will rewad yourself with something that will make you feel good (ie buy yourself a new jacket, get your hair done, or have a night on the town, whatever but it must make you think that what you did and what you got was worth the effort). Now on the other hand if you do not get the job done in the time you are supposed to get it done then it's time for punishment, something that will make you think, it's easier getting the job done than it is doing the punishment( perhaps giving your weeks salary to charity, i know it's a good thing to give to charity  but a whole weeks salary, i think not).

Well that is it for today but next week i will be giving you more on my thoughts and experiences on this particular subject. Till then take care and strive to achieve.
